America, You’re Not Alone: The International Fight Against Trump
Global protests against Trump’s leadership and related policies are louder than ever.
As Donald Trump embarks on his second term as President of the United States, international protests are making one thing clear: Americans who oppose his leadership are not alone.
From London to Mexico City, Berlin to Manila, people around the globe are taking to the streets, raising their voices in solidarity against the policies and rhetoric that many fear will deepen divisions, erode democracy, and threaten human rights worldwide.
Yet, despite the significance of these demonstrations, mainstream American media coverage of global resistance to Trump has dwindled compared to his first term. In 2017 and 2018, images of massive protests against Trump’s travel bans, immigration policies, and climate stance were widely circulated. His visits to foreign countries were often met with massive demonstrations, from the "Trump baby blimp" in London to the throngs of activists who filled the streets of Mexico City. Though protests persist, the coverage has shifted today, leaving many Americans unaware of how much the world shares their concerns.

Why the Media Isn’t Covering It Like Before
So why has mainstream American media largely ignored these protests? Part of the reason may be fatigue—after nearly a decade of Trump dominating headlines, some outlets may be reluctant to give him the same wall-to-wall coverage as before. Others may be focusing on domestic concerns, particularly as the United States grapples with political turmoil, legal battles, and policy rollbacks.
However, there is another, more troubling possibility: Trump’s influence over the flow of information. His administration has already begun purging federal websites of references to gender identity, climate change, and diversity initiatives. Executive orders aimed at restricting the language and policies of government agencies could create a chilling effect, discouraging certain types of reporting. While these actions don’t constitute direct censorship of the press, they contribute to an atmosphere where information is harder to access and narratives are more tightly controlled.
Additionally, some media outlets—especially those owned by corporate interests with business ties to Trump’s administration—may be hesitant to emphasize global opposition to his presidency. As a result, many Americans remain unaware of the scale of international dissent.
Some international protests are also directly related to Trumpesque policies and actions, even if the signs do not say his name. With the problematic atmosphere, the press is working in now, many may be reluctant to link them directly to him.
A Message of Hope: We Are Not Alone
For those disheartened by Trump’s second term, the global protests should be a source of hope. Across continents, millions of people see what is happening in the United States and refuse to remain silent. They understand that the consequences of Trump’s leadership extend beyond American borders. His policies on climate change affect the entire planet. His stance on immigration impacts families worldwide. His rhetoric emboldens far-right movements across Europe and beyond.
The worldwide protests are a testament to the fact that millions still believe in democracy, human rights, and a future free from authoritarianism. We must take heart in the fact that we are not alone.
And we must keep fighting. Stay loud, friends.

And to the international community, there are many of us who will do everything in our power and might to make sure you have all you need to make the world safe for real democracy and rule of law. This is a global fight and if it takes an underground here in America, so be it.
The payments from some news outlets to settle lawsuits out of court is very ominous.
