Anti-Trump GOP Group Plans Up to $100M to Boost Democrats in 2026 House Races
Anti-Trump former Republicans are betting big on Democrats’ chances in the 2026 midterms, launching a multimillion-dollar plan to help flip the U.S. House. According to Politico, the newly political Save America Movement (SAM) believes Democratic strategists are missing opportunities and wants to put money behind change.
The tension is stark: a group formed to oppose President Donald Trump is now preparing to funnel money into efforts that could hand control of the House to Democrats in 2026. That marks a dramatic pivot from protest to electoral engagement by leaders once aligned with the GOP establishment.
Confirmed through SAM’s internal communications obtained by outlets, the organization is targeting up to 60 Republican-held House seats and hopes to raise and spend as much as $100 million to support broader efforts to flip the chamber.

The group is starting with an initial list of about 10 competitive districts, spanning from Alaska to Florida, though leaders say the list could expand as fundraising progresses.
Mary Corcoran, SAM co-founder and executive director, told Politico that “the 2026 elections are absolutely critical to our mission of defeating MAGA,” underscoring the urgency driving the strategy.
If successful, the movement’s investment could reshape narrative and funding flows in battleground districts where traditional Democratic and Republican funds have yet to fully commit. This model reflects growing frustration among anti-Trump conservatives with both major parties’ approaches to competitive House races.
Democrats have welcomed outside support, but it remains unclear how party committees will coordinate with SAM’s independent expenditures. The coming months will test whether this cross-ideological strategy can translate dollars into seats. The first candidate spending reports are expected in early 2026.
