Brian Williams Reemerges With Netflix Show Years After NBC Scandal
Brian Williams is returning to the spotlight with a new weekly show on Netflix, marking his most visible role since leaving NBC News.
The move puts the longtime anchor back in a public-facing position, but it also revives questions about how his career, and credibility, translate to a streaming audience.
According to reports, Williams will host a weekly podcast-style program titled “We’re Back! With Brian Williams,” expected to launch later this year.
The deal follows his 2021 exit from NBC after nearly 30 years, including a decade leading NBC Nightly News and later hosting MSNBC’s The 11th Hour.
But his trajectory was reshaped by a 2015 controversy involving inaccurate claims about a helicopter incident during the Iraq War, which led to his suspension and removal from Nightly News.

“Podcasting allows us to get it right—we get to tell the story calmly and accurately,” Williams previously said about his work in the format.
The Netflix move signals a broader shift, as streaming platforms experiment with news-adjacent programming and established media personalities outside traditional broadcast structures.
What remains unclear is how much of the project will resemble journalism versus commentary, and whether Williams will address current events directly.
More details on format, release timing, and editorial scope are expected as Netflix rolls out the show.
For now, the move places one of television news’ most recognizable figures into a new, and still evolving, media lane.
