Congo Confirms 782 Ebola Cases and 181 Deaths as Daily Infections Spike
The Democratic Republic of the Congo reported one of the largest single-day increases of its current Ebola outbreak, with health authorities confirming 72 new infections in 24 hours. The jump pushed total confirmed cases to 782 and confirmed deaths to 181, roughly one month after the outbreak was officially declared.
Most cases remain concentrated in Ituri Province, but infections have spread into North Kivu, South Kivu, and neighboring Uganda. Officials say the outbreak is being driven by the rare Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, which currently has no approved vaccine or treatment.

Health agencies say armed conflict, population displacement, weak infrastructure, and declining contact-tracing coverage have complicated containment efforts. International organizations including WHO and Africa CDC have increased support while warning that additional resources are urgently needed.
The outbreak has become one of the fastest-growing Ebola emergencies in recent DRC history and is now spreading into new health zones as authorities race to slow transmission.
