Democracy for Sale: How Billionaires and Politicians Rig Elections
Congress must pass the We the People Act NOW
The United States is not a democracy—not really. It is an oligarchy, a political playground where billionaires and corporations dictate policy, votes are manipulated by carefully crafted voter suppression laws, and elections are drowned in dark money. Our elections are a bidding war, not a contest of ideas. The American people are no longer electing their leaders. Money, power, and foreign interference are doing it for them.
We have the solution: a bill like the We the People Act or the Freedom to Vote Act must be reintroduced and passed immediately. But instead of moving to fix our crumbling democracy, Congress—especially Republicans and corporate-backed Democrats—is doing everything it can to protect its own power.
The only people who benefit from the existing system are the rich, the corrupt, and our foreign adversaries. If lawmakers gave a damn about the people they serve, they would protect voters, enforce fair elections, and remove the corrosive influence of money from politics. Instead, they preserve their seats and corporate interests at the expense of democracy itself.

The Lie of Widespread Voter Fraud
Let’s address the biggest Republican lie first: voter fraud is a crisis. Except it’s not.
Study after study has proven that widespread voter fraud does not exist in the United States. The Brennan Center for Justice found that fraud rates in U.S. elections range from 0.0003% to 0.0025%—statistically insignificant. In the 2020 election, despite wild claims of fraud, recounts, audits, and court cases proved that the election was fair and secure. Even Trump’s own Department of Justice and Homeland Security admitted there was no fraud.
So, if voter fraud isn’t a real issue, why are lawmakers passing hundreds of laws restricting access to the ballot? Simple: Voter suppression is the goal, not election security.
The Reality: Voter Suppression Is the Real Threat
Since 2020, Republican-led states have relentlessly attacked voting rights, implementing:
Strict voter ID laws disproportionately impact minorities, students, and low-income voters (Brennan Center).
Closing polling places in urban areas while expanding them in rural, white, conservative districts (Leadership Conference on Civil Rights).
Limiting early voting to reduce turnout, especially among working-class voters (NPR).
Purging voter rolls with faulty "fraud prevention" systems that disproportionately remove voters of color (Mother Jones).
When fewer people vote, Republicans win. Period. The last few elections have been falsely close because of these suppression tactics. The actual margin between Democratic and Republican candidates would be much wider if every eligible voter could cast a ballot.
The We the People Act would end these attacks on voting rights by setting federal standards for:
✅ Automatic voter registration
✅ Nationwide early voting
✅ Mail-in ballot protections
✅ Restoring voting rights for former felons
✅ Independent redistricting commissions to eliminate gerrymandering
Yet opponents of the law say that it is federal overreach because states are in charge of elections. The We the People Act does not take control of elections away from states; it sets baseline national standards to ensure fair and consistent elections across the country.
Furthermore, federal rules for elections already exist. The U.S. Constitution (Article I, Section 4) explicitly gives Congress the power to regulate federal elections and
Congress has exercised this power before:
The Voting Rights Act (1965) set federal rules prohibiting racial discrimination in voting.
The National Voter Registration Act (1993) created uniform voter registration procedures.
The Help America Vote Act (2002) established federal voting system standards after the 2000 Florida recount disaster.
The Electoral Count Reform Act (2022) clarified how Congress certifies election results to prevent another January 6-style disruption.
Setting national election standards is not new. It’s a constitutional responsibility when needed to protect democracy. These are common-sense reforms. Those who oppose them are complicit.
Gerrymandering: A Rigged System for Rigged Results
Right now, politicians choose their voters rather than the other way around. Legislators, especially Republicans, redraw district maps so that their party is guaranteed victory no matter how the people vote.
Take Wisconsin as an example:
In 2022, Democrats won 51% of the vote statewide for State Assembly races.
But because of extreme gerrymandering, Republicans won 64% of the seats.
This is legalized election rigging, and it happens all over the country.
The We the People Act would end this corrupt practice by requiring independent commissions to draw fair districts, taking power away from politicians, and giving it back to the people.
The Real Corruption: Money in Politics
🚨 2024 Election Spending Estimate: $15.9 BILLION 🚨
Compare that to:
United Kingdom (2024) → $43 million limit for the entire election.
France (2022) → $21 million limit per candidate.
Germany (2021) → Publicly funded elections, no dark money.
America is the ONLY democracy where billionaires can buy politicians outright. Opponents of the We the People Act argue that the act limits free speech by preventing wealthy donors from having their voice by donating privately. If money equals speech, then those with more money have more speech. That means their voices drown out regular voters. The We the People Act tries to balance this by limiting dark money and amplifying small-donor contributions so everyday Americans can have an equal say in elections.
Further, we must overturn Citizens United. That disastrous 2010 Supreme Court decision allowed unlimited corporate money in elections, turning our democracy into an auction.
Foreign Money & Influence: The Silent Election Hack
Despite laws banning foreign campaign donations, foreign entities still launder money through shell companies and Super PACs to influence elections.
The We the People Act would:
✅ Increase transparency on political donations to block foreign influence
✅ Require full disclosure of donors in Super PACs and digital ads
✅ Strengthen election security against cyber threats
Congress Must Choose: Democracy or Corruption
The We the People Act is not a partisan issue—it’s an American survival issue.
If Congress refuses to pass it, then they have chosen corporate rule, voter suppression, and foreign influence over democracy. They do not deserve to hold office if they refuse to stand for free and fair elections.
Americans deserve fair elections, authentic representation, and a government that serves them—not billionaires, corporations, and corrupt politicians. It’s time for Congress to prove whether it believes in democracy or is complicit in its destruction.
Pass the We the People Act. Now.

Everything delineated here is 💯 correct it’s where I put what energy I’ve got. The voter suppression is a massive evil (illegal supposedly) I still cannot comprehend why it’s so functional. I balk at Trump and Barr agreeing to no voter fraud, it doesn’t make sense that they agree and that’s possibly because there is.
When has Trump not lied?
I mean look at the sky.. full of satellites owned by a man Trump owes a lot to. When I got home from traveling 3 weeks ago.. paid down half my cc. I just went to clean off the rest of that plate and the funds I owe are gone.. ! Towhere? Checked my statement.. like NEVER there! No fraud.. well 🤷🏼♀️, I continue to look 🆙 I hope no fraud is true, but I would bet money it isn’t.
