I will not apologize for viewing other human beings as deserving of compassion, especially if their only crime is being desperate to escape an untenable situation. Our Constitution ensures due process. When I see evidence that the people being gathered up, detained, and deported have committed a crime greater than crossing an imaginary line, I'll back down. We have a crime problem in this country. That's true, and there are many ways we could and should address that. I'd be happy to link the article we recently did on this topic if you'd be interested.
