DHS Jet Meant for Deportations Shifted to Trump Officials, Critics Erupt
A $70 million deportation jet tied to Trump’s immigration agenda is now at the center of a growing spending controversy.
According to The Wall Street Journal and Washington Post, the Boeing 737, originally justified for mass deportations, is being retained by the Trump administration for VIP government use, including Cabinet officials and potentially First Lady Melania Trump.

The aircraft was acquired by DHS under former Secretary Kristi Noem and marketed as a cost-saving tool for immigration enforcement. But reports show it includes a bedroom, shower, kitchen, and a bar, features that raised internal concerns about its actual use.
Officials told NBC News and others that typical deportation flights carry dozens of detainees, while this jet holds fewer than 20 passengers.
Critics argue immigration enforcement funds are being redirected toward luxury travel, while the administration maintains the plane supports “secure mobility.”
The dispute comes as broader investigations into DHS spending under Noem continue.
