DOGE, The IRS & The Billionaire Tax Scam
Musk’s government “efficiency” means protecting the rich and squeezing the rest.
If there was ever a moment that perfectly illustrated the corrupt entanglement of power, wealth, and government, this is it. Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is now angling for access to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) database—a move that should terrify every taxpayer in America. The billionaire who built an empire on government contracts and tax breaks now wants to peek behind the curtain of the agency responsible for collecting those taxes. And while middle-class Americans sweat over their W-2s, Musk and his ultra-wealthy peers remain conspicuously silent.

The Billionaire Policing His Own Tax Bill
Let’s start with the most blatant conflict of interest: Musk and his companies have a long history of minimizing tax payments. Musk himself admitted to paying no federal income tax in 2018. Reports from ProPublica show that between 2014 and 2018, his effective tax rate was just 3.27%, a fraction of what ordinary Americans pay. Tesla, meanwhile, paid zero federal income tax in 2024 despite raking in billions in U.S. profits.
Now, Musk’s DOGE team is demanding access to IRS systems under the guise of “efficiency.” But let’s be honest; how can a man who has personally gamed the tax code for years be trusted to oversee it? If anyone should be investigated, it’s Musk himself. Yet, under this administration, he’s being handed the keys to the vault.
Where Are the Other Billionaires?
What’s more telling than Musk’s actions is the deafening silence from other wealthy individuals. Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, Ken Griffin—where are their statements about this? If Musk and his hand-picked government efficiency enforcers are diving into taxpayer records, that should concern every billionaire who’s been legally (or questionably) avoiding their fair share.
The reality is that the rich protect their own. Musk’s DOGE is unlikely to go after the wealthiest Americans who funnel profits through offshore accounts, abuse stock buybacks, or manipulate executive compensation structures to avoid taxation. Instead, expect DOGE to scrutinize middle-class deductions, small-business write-offs, and student loan credits while billionaires remain untouched.
The Timing Stinks
This IRS power grab isn’t happening in a vacuum. Millions of Americans are filing their tax returns this month, hoping for refunds to help them pay bills, cover rent, or put food on the table. The IRS is already under stress during tax season, yet DOGE wants to barge in and start its so-called "investigations" right as the system is at its busiest.
Why now? Because the less scrutiny, the better. If DOGE can slide in while the IRS is drowning in paperwork, fewer people will notice who they’re really targeting.
A Government for the Rich, by the Rich
Musk’s empire is built on government assistance, including federal EV tax credits, NASA contracts, and defense deals worth billions. Yet, now he wants to position himself as a watchdog of government spending? It’s an insult to every taxpayer who actually contributes a fair share.
This isn’t just about Musk. This is about a system that allows billionaires to rewire the government to serve them while working Americans bear the brunt of tax enforcement. Musk isn’t the solution to waste and fraud; he’s the product of it.
If DOGE gets into the IRS, expect a surge in audits on middle-class earners while the ultra-rich continue dodging taxation. Expect whistleblowers and political adversaries to be targeted. Expect Musk and his allies to continue siphoning wealth out of the system while calling it “efficiency.”
And worst of all? Expect silence from the people who should be speaking up.

The wealthy scrutinizing the wealthy! Only over which wine to drink, never about how much more taxes to pay. But now a Fedral judge has once again sided with Musk’s lawyers over 14 Democratic Attorney Generals, that he has no “official role” in government. He is “only a senior advisor to the president, and makes no final decisions”. 🤣Donald your strings are showing! 🤣
