DOJ Announces Results of Operation Spring Cleaning as FBI Reports 615 Federal Cases Nationwide
The Department of Justice announced Friday that Operation Spring Cleaning, a nationwide enforcement initiative led by the FBI, resulted in 615 federal indictments and complaints, nearly 1,000 illegal firearms seizures, and more than 2,700 pounds of narcotics recovered during a three-month operation that ran from March through May.
According to DOJ officials, the initiative targeted violent offenders, gang members, firearms traffickers, narcotics distribution networks, and fugitives operating across the country. Federal authorities said agents recovered significant quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, and marijuana while working alongside state and local law enforcement agencies.
The operation is part of the Trump administration’s broader emphasis on aggressive federal crime enforcement. FBI Director Kash Patel described Operation Spring Cleaning as part of a coordinated effort between federal, state, and local authorities aimed at reducing violent crime and disrupting organized criminal networks.
Operation Spring Cleaning follows several other high-profile federal enforcement initiatives launched during the administration, including Operation Summer Heat, Operation Take Back America, Operation Restore Justice, and a series of regional gang and cartel task force operations. Federal officials have cited thousands of arrests, firearm seizures, and drug confiscations across those efforts as evidence of an expanded focus on violent crime, drug trafficking, and organized criminal activity.

Supporters of the strategy argue that large-scale enforcement operations help remove dangerous offenders, illegal weapons, and narcotics from communities while disrupting criminal organizations. Critics have countered that arrest and seizure totals alone do not necessarily translate into long-term reductions in crime, noting that lasting results often depend on successful prosecutions, sentencing outcomes, and broader local crime trends.
