DOJ Says Operation Spring Cleaning Produced 615 Federal Cases, Nearly 1,000 Firearms Seized
The Justice Department announced Friday that Operation Spring Cleaning, a three-month nationwide FBI-led enforcement initiative, resulted in 615 federal indictments and complaints, nearly 1,000 illegal firearms seized, and more than 2,700 pounds of narcotics recovered. Authorities said the operation targeted violent offenders, gang members, fugitives, and drug traffickers across the country.
According to DOJ figures, agents recovered large quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, and marijuana while working alongside state and local law-enforcement agencies.

The operation fits into a broader Trump administration strategy emphasizing aggressive federal enforcement against violent crime and organized criminal groups. FBI Director Kash Patel called the initiative another example of nationwide crime-reduction efforts.
Supporters argue such operations remove dangerous offenders and weapons from communities. Critics note that long-term success depends on whether prosecutions lead to sustained reductions in violent crime rather than short-term arrest surges.
