DOJ Watchdogs Pressed After Claim FBI Dropped “Victim” Label in Renée Good Warrant
A new Senate Judiciary Democrats post is reigniting scrutiny around the federal response to the killing of Renée Good in Minneapolis, after alleging a whistleblower says FBI forensic experts were told to stand down at the scene.
The flashpoint is the language in a warrant: Democrats claim FBI Director Kash Patel did not want Good referred to as a “victim,” and wanted the paperwork recast to portray her as the subject of an assault-on-officer investigation.
Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse and Dick Durbin say they are urging DOJ watchdogs to investigate who ordered the civil-rights probe closed and why, arguing the move was politically motivated.
New York Times reporting says agents had obtained a warrant to document blood spatter and bullet holes in Good’s SUV but were ordered to stop and redirected.
