DP World Chairman Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem Resigns After Epstein Files Reveal Personal Emails
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the influential chairman and chief executive of DP World, has resigned after newly released court records tied him to unredacted email exchanges with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, an unprecedented fallout in the global Epstein files saga.
The surprise leadership shake-up at the Dubai-based logistics giant came after U.S. lawmakers and international investors amplified pressure on the company, even as the Justice Department release of documents linked Sulayem to personal and sexually suggestive communications with Epstein, though not to any criminal acts.
DP World said Essa Kazim will take over as chairman and Yuvraj Narayan will serve as the new chief executive. The resignations follow statements by British International Investment and Canada’s La Caisse that they were pausing new ventures with DP World amid the controversy generated by the released files.
This week, U.S. Representative Ro Khanna credited himself and Representative Thomas Massie for pushing the Department of Justice to stop redacting Sulayem’s name in the Epstein documents. “We will not rest until there is elite accountability for the Epstein class,” Khanna wrote in a post after Sulayem’s resignation.

The resignation underscores how the unsealed Epstein records, mandated by the Epstein Files Transparency Act passed by Congress, are continuing to reshape reputations years after Epstein’s 2019 death.
The broader controversy has already triggered other resignations and reputational consequences for figures worldwide named in the documents.
Investors and governments now face pressure to reassess long-standing partnerships, raising questions about governance and corporate oversight in global markets.
What happens next: DP World’s new leadership will be under scrutiny to stabilize investor confidence and clarify the company’s stance on the released document findings.
