Elon Musk’s X Refuses to Turn Over Data in Jeffrey Epstein Related Court Battle
X is reportedly resisting a subpoena in a legal dispute tied to two women who say they were abused by Jeffrey Epstein, and lawyers say it’s now slowing progress in the case.
The subpoena dispute is elevating tensions in an already complicated defamation and counter-defamation fight, with one side saying the other abused her and the other calling those claims false.
According to Business Insider coverage of court filings, attorneys for artist Rina Oh Amen asked X — formerly Twitter — to provide records from her own accounts, which are believed to contain key communications relevant to the case.
But X has refused to comply with the subpoenas, telling lawyers it would not provide the data even after multiple requests.

“It doesn’t make sense why they were being so obstructionist,” one lawyer said.
This resistance from X is significant because the parties say the records are the last outstanding evidence needed before they can schedule a trial, and without them discovery is stalled.
Legal experts note third-party compliance with subpoenas is often critical in digital communications cases, and objecting to them can prolong pre-trial phases.
Attorneys for both sides have asked the judge to hold a hearing to consider motions to compel X to comply, which could further delay the case.
What happens next…
A likely a court ruling on whether X must produce the subpoenaed records before the case can move forward.
