Federal Judge Dismisses Trump’s $10B Murdoch Lawsuit Over Epstein Report
A federal judge just dismissed Donald Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch and the Wall Street Journal, but the fight isn’t over yet.
The ruling turns on a key legal hurdle that Trump couldn’t clear, even as the underlying Epstein-linked claim remains unresolved.
According to Reuters and AP, Judge Darrin Gayles ruled Trump failed to show “actual malice,” the standard required to prove defamation against media outlets.

The lawsuit stemmed from a Wall Street Journal report alleging Trump’s name appeared on a 2003 birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein, which Trump has repeatedly denied writing.
The Journal had contacted Trump before publication and included his denial, which the judge said undercut claims of reckless reporting.
Still, the case isn’t fully closed.
The judge allowed Trump to amend and refile the lawsuit by late April, keeping the legal battle, and scrutiny over Epstein-related documents, very much alive.
