Florida House Passes 81–30 Vote to Rename Palm Beach Airport for Trump
The Florida House voted 81–30 to rename Palm Beach International Airport after former President Donald Trump, advancing a bill that now heads to the state Senate. The proposal would formally designate the facility as “President Donald J. Trump International Airport.”
The move immediately divided lawmakers, with supporters framing it as recognition of Trump’s ties to Palm Beach County and opponents warning about precedent and political fallout.
According to official House records and reporting from Florida Politics and WPTV, CS/CS/HB 919 cleared the chamber with 81 votes in favor and 30 opposed. The airport, located in West Palm Beach, currently operates as Palm Beach International Airport.

Democratic lawmakers questioned whether the change would create logistical costs tied to signage, branding, and documentation. No finalized fiscal estimate has been publicly released.
“This is about honoring a president who calls Palm Beach home,” one Republican sponsor said during debate.
The vote places the issue squarely before the Florida Senate, where similar naming proposals in other states have sparked prolonged debate. In Florida, the outcome could signal how aggressively state leaders align public infrastructure with national political figures.
If the Senate approves the bill, it would go to Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has not publicly detailed whether he would sign it.
Until then, Palm Beach International Airport keeps its current name, with the final decision still ahead.
