Florida State Attorney Secures Conviction of Jan 6 Defendant Facing Life
A former Jan. 6 riot defendant has been convicted in a separate Florida child sex crimes case and now faces decades behind bars.
Andrew Paul Johnson, 45, was found guilty in Hernando County on charges including lewd or lascivious molestation, two counts of lewd or lascivious exhibition, and transmission of material harmful to a minor by electronic device, according to the Office of State Attorney William M. Gladson for Florida’s Fifth Judicial Circuit.
Prosecutors said the case began in July 2025 when Hernando County deputies responded to a residence in Brooksville regarding allegations involving two juvenile victims.
According to the state attorney’s office, investigators recovered sexually explicit messages between Johnson and one of the victims through the Discord application, along with allegations of inappropriate touching and efforts to move conversations to other apps.
Johnson faces a 25-year minimum mandatory sentence, with potential exposure up to life in prison.

“Johnson will be sentenced at a later date but faces a 25-year minimum mandatory sentence, with exposure of up to Life in prison,” the State Attorney’s Office said in a release.
Authorities said one victim reported Johnson encouraged secrecy and offered gifts and food in exchange for silence.
The conviction marks a significant escalation for Johnson, who had previously faced charges related to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, though those proceedings are separate from the Florida case.
Sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
The outcome will determine whether Johnson receives the minimum term or a longer sentence within the statutory range.
For now, prosecutors have secured convictions on all listed counts.
