Fox Acquires Roku in $22 Billion Deal to Expand Streaming and Advertising Reach
Fox Corporation announced a deal to acquire streaming platform Roku in a transaction valued at roughly $22 billion, one of the largest media deals in recent years. The acquisition would combine Fox’s live sports, news, entertainment, Tubi streaming service, and Fox One platform with Roku’s streaming operating system, devices, advertising network, and audience of more than 100 million households.
Fox executives described the deal as a strategic move to pair premium content with one of the most widely used streaming platforms in the United States. Roku founder Anthony Wood said the platform will remain open to partners, though Fox content is expected to receive greater visibility across Roku’s ecosystem.

The announcement immediately generated discussion among streaming users and technology communities, where some questioned how independent Roku’s platform will remain under Fox ownership while others debated potential effects on content recommendations and advertising.
If approved, the deal would close in the first half of 2027 and create what the companies say would become the third-largest player in U.S. television by viewing share.
