Gallup Warning Shot: Trump Approval Crashes to Second-Term Low at 36%
A new Gallup poll shows President Donald Trump slipping to 36% approval, with 60% disapproval, marking the worst rating of his second term as Americans react to weeks of political turmoil and economic uncertainty.

The survey, conducted Nov. 3–25 among 1,321 U.S. adults, reflects a sharp public backlash following the historic government shutdown, ongoing staffing instability in the administration, and a surge of national frustration over rising costs and federal dysfunction.
According to Gallup, Trump’s approval has been sliding across three key groups:
Republicans: Down to 84%, an unusually low number for a former GOP president.
Independents: Dropped to 25%, signaling deep erosion in the center of the electorate.
Democrats: Remain overwhelmingly disapproving.
This 36% mark now sits just two points above Trump’s all-time historic low of 34% recorded in the final weeks of his first presidency.
Political analysts note that Trump’s slide comes at a moment of mounting pressure on the White House, as the Justice Department and multiple congressional committees open new inquiries into administration actions, and public opinion hardens on issues from immigration to foreign policy.
Gallup’s latest release also shows a corresponding dip in Trump’s ratings on specific issues, including the economy and national security — areas where he typically polls stronger.
While approval ratings can shift quickly with the news cycle, the drop to 36% places Trump in one of the weakest positions of his presidency, and signals potential political volatility heading into the end of the year.
