Graham Platner Allegations Put Maine Senate Race Under New Democratic Scrutiny
Rep. Ro Khanna condemned Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner’s past conduct toward women on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” calling it wrong while continuing to defend Platner ahead of Tuesday’s primary.
Khanna said Platner had taken accountability and argued that many Maine voters were already aware of his past before deciding whether to support him. But he also said Democrats should not attack Lyndsey Fifield, a former girlfriend who has spoken publicly about their relationship, or the journalists who reported on the allegations.

Platner has faced scrutiny over sexually explicit messages sent while married, past online comments, a tattoo resembling a Nazi symbol, and allegations involving former partners. He has denied physical-abuse allegations.
The stakes extend beyond one candidate. Democrats view Maine’s Senate race against Republican Sen. Susan Collins as a key opportunity in their effort to win back Senate control, making Platner’s viability a national political issue.
