Guido Reichstadter Stays on D.C. Bridge as Iran Protest Enters Fourth Day
A protester remained atop Washington, D.C.’s Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge into Monday after climbing the landmark span to protest the Trump administration’s Iran policy and warn about artificial intelligence.
The man, identified in reports as 45-year-old activist Guido Reichstadter, climbed the bridge Friday and set up a tent on one of its arches. The Washington Post reported that he brought food, displayed a large black banner and called for nonviolent resistance against what he described as an illegal war in Iran.

The protest created a local public-safety response, with D.C. police attempting to persuade him to come down and traffic restrictions reported during the standoff. People reported that MPD described the incident as a barricade situation and said negotiators were present.
The bridge protest has drawn both criticism and support, including a solidarity event organized by Code Pink, according to the Post.
