Hillary Clinton Denies Epstein Ties Under Oath as Deposition Paused Over Photo Leak
Hillary Clinton testified under oath Thursday before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, denying any knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities as Republicans press forward with a high-profile investigation.
The closed-door deposition in Washington is part of a broader GOP-led probe into Epstein’s network and the federal government’s handling of earlier cases tied to the convicted sex offender. Clinton appeared under subpoena.
In her official opening statement, Clinton said she had “no idea about their criminal activities” and does “not recall ever encountering Mr. Epstein.” She also denied flying on Epstein’s plane or visiting his island, homes, or offices.
Midway through the deposition, proceedings were temporarily paused after an unauthorized photo from inside the hearing surfaced online. Conservative commentator Benny Johnson posted the image, stating it was provided by Rep. Lauren Boebert. House rules prohibit outside photography during live depositions.

“I had no idea about their criminal activities,” Clinton said in her statement released publicly before testimony began.
Clinton used her opening remarks to accuse the committee of conducting “partisan political theater,” arguing the investigation is being used to distract from President Trump and broader federal oversight issues.
The pause added procedural tension to an already politically charged hearing, underscoring how tightly controlled closed congressional depositions are — and how quickly breaches can escalate into controversy.
The deposition later resumed after the rules issue was addressed.
Former President Bill Clinton is expected to provide separate testimony as the committee continues its investigation.
The Oversight Committee has not yet indicated whether disciplinary action related to the photo incident is under review.
