Hillary Clinton Sparks Backlash After Blaming TikTok for Youth Views on Israel–Palestine
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is drawing attention — and backlash — after arguing that TikTok and other social media platforms are driving a major generational shift in how young Americans view the Israel–Palestine conflict.

Speaking at an Israel Hayom event in New York City, Clinton said young people are consuming “totally made-up” short-form videos that distort the history of the conflict. She claimed the online content is influencing “not just the usual suspects,” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”
Clinton argued that misinformation and context-free clips have made it “very difficult” to have conversations with younger Americans about the war, calling the trend “a serious problem for democracy.”
Her appearance came alongside a roster of high-profile U.S. and Israeli figures — including Sen. John Fetterman, New York Mayor Eric Adams, Trump UN Ambassador Mike Waltz, and Biden energy envoy Amos Hochstein — at the annual conference hosted by Israel’s most-read newspaper, founded by the late GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson.
Clinton’s comments sparked immediate debate online. Supporters said she was right to highlight the surge of misleading viral content around the conflict. Critics accused her of dismissing legitimate criticism of Israel’s military actions and attempting to blame youth opinion on apps rather than policy.
The remarks come as polling continues to show a widening generational divide on U.S. foreign policy toward Israel, with young voters — including young Jewish Americans — expressing sharply different views from older demographics.
