Injured Jan. 6 Officers Challenge DOJ-Linked Compensation Fund in Court
Two U.S. Capitol Police officers injured during the Jan. 6 Capitol riot have filed a lawsuit seeking to block a DOJ-linked “anti-weaponization” compensation fund tied to people connected to Jan. 6 prosecutions.
According to CBS News, the officers argue the proposed fund improperly redirects support toward individuals tied to the Capitol attack while officers injured during the riot continue facing long-term physical and emotional consequences.
The lawsuit arrives as political fights over Jan. 6 prosecutions, DOJ authority, and claims of federal “weaponization” continue dominating online debate. Conservative commentators have increasingly defended some Jan. 6 defendants as victims of politically motivated prosecutions, while critics argue those narratives downplay violence against police officers during the attack.

The officers are asking the court to stop the fund while the legal challenge proceeds.
The case could become a major new flashpoint in the broader national battle over Jan. 6 accountability, federal law enforcement legitimacy, and how the government treats both defendants and victims connected to the Capitol riot.
