Iran Accuses U.S. of Ceasefire Violation as Washington Defends New Strikes
Iran accused the U.S. of violating a fragile ceasefire after new American strikes in southern Iran, while Washington said the attacks were defensive actions aimed at protecting U.S. forces near the Strait of Hormuz.
The dispute centers on two competing official claims. Iran says the strikes broke the ceasefire. U.S. officials say they targeted missile sites and boats allegedly laying mines near one of the world’s most important shipping routes.

The political pressure is also growing. President Trump used social media to argue that any Iran deal must be “great and meaningful” or he would walk away, while Republican hawks have criticized parts of the emerging framework as too favorable to Tehran.
That reaction gives the military dispute a domestic political edge. If Iran treats the strikes as a ceasefire breach, retaliation could put U.S. bases, Gulf shipping, oil markets, and nuclear negotiations at risk.
For now, the ceasefire remains technically alive, but the official explanations are moving in opposite directions.
