Israel Military Kills Iran Naval Commander Linked to 20% Global Oil Flow
Israel says it killed Iran’s top naval commander in a strike tied directly to the global oil crisis but Iran hasn’t confirmed it.
According to the Washington Post and other outlets, Israeli forces targeted IRGC Navy chief Alireza Tangsiri, who Israel claims was behind efforts to block the Strait of Hormuz, a route that carries roughly 20% of the world’s oil.
That blockade has already rattled global markets, with oil prices climbing as shipping routes face disruption.
But there’s a key gap: Iranian authorities have not officially confirmed Tangsiri’s death, leaving uncertainty about the impact of the strike.
The move comes as U.S. and Israeli forces continue a broader military campaign against Iran’s infrastructure, while President Donald Trump has warned Tehran to reopen the strait or face further escalation.
If confirmed, the killing would mark one of the highest-level targeted strikes yet and a direct attempt to shift control of a chokepoint affecting global energy supply.
