Israel Strikes Lebanon as Trump-Iran Ceasefire Dispute Intensifies
A fragile ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran is already under strain as shipping remains disrupted and fighting continues in Lebanon.
The Strait of Hormuz—one of the world’s most critical oil routes—is still effectively shut, with hundreds of ships stalled and global energy markets under pressure. According to Reuters and Axios reporting, Iran is restricting passage and even seeking toll payments, while only a fraction of normal traffic is moving.

President Donald Trump has publicly warned Iran to reopen the strait, including threats of renewed military action if it fails to comply. He also criticized Iran’s handling of the agreement in a social media post, calling it a “very poor job.”
At the same time, Israeli strikes in Lebanon continue, which Iran says violates the ceasefire—despite U.S. and Israeli claims that Lebanon was never included.
Peace talks are expected to begin in Pakistan, but the gap between public messaging and on-the-ground reality remains unresolved.
