Israeli Strike on Lebanese Army Vehicle Adds Pressure to Fragile Ceasefire
An Israeli strike that killed two Lebanese army officers and one soldier in southern Lebanon has become a new flashpoint in the widening conflict involving Israel, Hezbollah and Iran.
Lebanon’s president condemned the strike as a violation of sovereignty, while Israel said the incident is under review and that its forces had identified a Hezbollah-related threat in the area. UNIFIL and Qatar also condemned the attack, adding diplomatic pressure after a fragile ceasefire had already been strained by continued fighting.

The deaths carry added weight because the Lebanese Army is distinct from Hezbollah, even as Israel says its military operations are aimed at the Iran-backed group. That distinction is driving much of the public reaction online and in regional statements.
The strike comes as Iran and Israel have exchanged fire following Israeli attacks on Hezbollah-linked targets in Beirut, raising fears that the Lebanon front could further complicate efforts to prevent a wider regional war.
