John Fetterman Breaks With Democrats, Backs Trump Iran War Votes
Sen. John Fetterman is breaking sharply with Democrats over the Iran war, and the split is becoming harder to ignore as key votes pile up.
The Pennsylvania Democrat sided with Republicans to block efforts limiting President Donald Trump’s military campaign, putting him at odds with nearly his entire party during a high-stakes foreign policy fight.
According to the Washington Post, Fetterman was the only Democrat to oppose one Senate resolution aimed at restricting further strikes, as the measure failed 52–47.
That vote came amid repeated Democratic attempts to reassert congressional authority over the conflict, all of which have failed in both chambers, according to Reuters.

The divide is widening as Democrats increasingly push to curb military involvement, while Fetterman continues backing a more aggressive approach aligned with Republican leadership.
“I’m baffled why so many are unwilling to support” action against Iran, Fetterman said, according to prior statements.
The clash reflects a broader shift inside the Democratic Party, where support for Israel and related military policy has weakened, creating internal tension over how to handle the escalating conflict.
Fetterman has moved in the opposite direction, repeatedly supporting Israel and opposing limits on military force, even as criticism grows within his party.
There is no confirmed indication he plans to switch parties or go independent, but his voting record and rhetoric are fueling questions about how long the alignment can hold.
