Judge Blocks Powell Probe, Pirro Appeals as Warsh Nomination Stalls
A federal judge’s move to block the DOJ’s probe into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has triggered a political standoff now threatening Kevin Warsh’s nomination.
According to Reuters and MarketWatch, prosecutor Jeanine Pirro plans to appeal the ruling, even as Republican Sen. Thom Tillis warns he will block Warsh unless the investigation is dropped.
The probe centers on cost overruns tied to Fed renovations, but critics—including Tillis—say it lacks evidence and undermines Fed independence.

Tillis told reporters the situation “could be fixed in five minutes,” yet Trump has signaled no urgency to shut it down, keeping pressure on Powell and extending uncertainty.
With Republicans holding only a slim committee majority, Tillis’ opposition is enough to stall the confirmation indefinitely.
The result is a widening split inside the GOP, where some push to move forward while others demand the investigation end first.
For now, Warsh remains in limbo as the legal fight escalates.
