Judge Pressed to Delay Hearing in Charlie Kirk Killing Case Over Evidence
A new court fight in Utah is fueling fresh questions in the case against Tyler Robinson, but the viral framing around it is running ahead of the verified facts.
According to AP, Robinson’s lawyers asked a judge in Provo to delay his May preliminary hearing in the Charlie Kirk murder case while they seek more detail about DNA testing and other forensic evidence. AP reported that investigators have said DNA consistent with Robinson’s was found on the rifle trigger, cartridge casings and a towel, but the defense says it still has not received enough underlying material to properly assess that analysis.

People also reported that Robinson’s attorneys say an ATF summary could not conclusively match the bullet recovered at autopsy to the rifle allegedly tied to him. The filing says the ATF case file and protocols had not yet been produced, and that additional FBI bullet testing was still unfinished.
That does not prove the evidence is missing or fabricated. It does mean the defense is now pressing a narrower argument: the state’s forensic case is still incomplete, and the judge may have to decide whether that slows the case down.
