Kristen Welker Says Trump Cited Rain After Abrupt NBC Interview Exit
President Donald Trump told NBC’s Kristen Welker the morning after their tense Meet the Press interview that disruptive rain contributed to the conditions around his abrupt exit, according to Welker’s account to Vanity Fair.
The interview, taped in a Wisconsin barn before a farm event and aired June 7, ended after Welker pressed Trump on unsupported election-fraud claims, California vote counting, Jan. 6-related questions and his position on Iran. Trump accused NBC and other networks of being “crooked” before ending the interview and walking off camera.

Welker said the interview had originally been planned for Washington, D.C., but was moved to Wisconsin days before taping. She said the rain was loud enough to interrupt the conversation and make it difficult to hear.
The exchange spread widely online, with clips from NBC and CNN drawing major engagement. Jon Stewart later criticized Trump’s walkout and mocked Welker’s attempt to keep him seated.
