MAGA Leaders Demand Ambassador Huckabee’s Removal After Secret Meeting With Spy Pollard
WASHINGTON — U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee confirmed this week that he secretly hosted convicted spy Jonathan Pollard at the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem this past July. Pollard, who spent 30 years behind bars for stealing and supplying classified U.S. documents to Israel, described the encounter as “friendly,” explaining that he wanted to personally thank Huckabee for earlier efforts to secure his release.

According to reporting by The New York Times, the meeting was absent from Huckabee’s official schedule and caught senior U.S. intelligence and White House officials by surprise. The CIA station-chief in Israel was reportedly “alarmed,” and the White House acknowledged it had not been notified — even as it publicly reaffirmed support for the ambassador.
The episode triggered a swift backlash within right-wing and MAGA circles. Influencers such as Steve Bannon, Mike Cernovich, and Tucker Carlson demanded Huckabee’s removal — labeling the decision to meet a convicted “traitor” a breach of diplomatic norms. “There is no universe where it’s appropriate,” Cernovich wrote on social media.
Huckabee, however, defended himself — telling reporters no requests were made, no favors granted, and the meeting was purely personal in nature. Some analysts argue the incident exposes a broader divide within the pro-Israel wing of the U.S. right, with fallout centered on whether deep personal ties should override diplomatic protocol.
What happens next remains uncertain. The State Department has not announced any investigation. But with internal pressure mounting from conservative activists — and continued concern within intelligence circles — calls for Huckabee’s recall may intensify in coming days.
