Maine Poll Reveals Graham Platner Ahead While Collins Edges Janet Mills
A new poll suggests Susan Collins could face a competitive 2026 Senate race in Maine but the outcome may depend heavily on which Democrat becomes the nominee.
According to a survey released by Quantus Insights, Democrat Graham Platner leads Collins 48.6% to 41.8% in a hypothetical general election matchup among likely voters.
But the same poll shows a different result if Janet Mills enters the race.
In that scenario, Collins narrowly leads Mills 44.6% to 43.0%, placing the race within the survey’s ±3.5% margin of error.
The poll also tested the Democratic primary. Platner leads Mills 43.3% to 38.8%, suggesting a potentially competitive nomination battle.
The survey sampled 800 likely voters from March 3–5, 2026, according to Quantus Insights.
If the numbers hold, the data points to a volatile race where the Democratic nominee could dramatically reshape the general election dynamics.
