Majestic Realty Rejects DHS Plan for 1M Sq Ft Texas Detention Site
A 1 million square foot warehouse in Hutchins, Texas, will not be used as a federal detention facility after its owner declined to move forward with a potential deal.
Majestic Realty Co. confirmed it was contacted about the possible sale or lease of the Dallas County property to the Department of Homeland Security but said it rejected the proposal.
The company said in a statement that it “has not and will not enter into any agreement” for the building to be used as a detention facility. The warehouse had reportedly been discussed as a possible large-scale holding site amid federal capacity pressures, according to background reporting from The Dallas Morning News.

The Hutchins property had drawn attention because of its size, with more than 1 million square feet that could support large-scale operations. However, no public contract filings confirm that a formal acquisition was completed.
“We have not and will not enter into any agreement for the purchase or lease of any building to the Department of Homeland Security for use as a detention facility,” Majestic Realty Co. said in its statement.
The decision removes one potential expansion site from DHS’s options in North Texas, where detention space has periodically tightened during surges in migrant processing and immigration enforcement activity.
It also signals resistance from private property owners amid heightened scrutiny over detention infrastructure growth.
DHS has not publicly commented on whether the Hutchins site appeared on any finalized expansion list or whether alternate properties are under review.
For now, the warehouse remains on the market for other commercial uses in Hutchins.
