During 2024, House Speaker Mike Johnson called for recess during periods when Congress was officially scheduled to be in session on two separate occasions

In July 2024, Johnson moved up the start of the five-week summer recess by one day, sending lawmakers home on July 23 instead of the planned July 24.
The early recess was called to avoid a floor fight over the release of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation, which some Democrats and Republicans were attempting to force through legislative action.
October–November 2024
Following the summer break, the House was originally scheduled to be in session from September 9 through November 11.
Johnson, however, called for a second "district work period" (recess) from September 30 through November 11, giving members an extended period for election-year campaigning
Congress was suppose to be in Session WORKING for 30 days between September 9 and November 11
So because they don’t work on Fridays anyway, I calculated that they took an ADDITIONAL 24 DAYS OFF PAID …Not doing their jobs, but campaigning for Chump which is a violation of the Hatch Act.
SINCE JULY 2025
REPUBLICANS HAVE ONLY WORKED A TOTAL OF 14 DAYS…the rest have been PAID days off.
