Let me tell you something — I did not wake up today expecting Marjorie Taylor Greene to look into a camera and say she was “a victim — just like you were — of media lies and stuff you read on social media.”

Yet here we are.

On The View, MTG was asked point-blank whether she still believes in QAnon. Hostin hit her with the question that’s been hanging over her for years:

“You don’t believe in QAnon anymore? You’ve changed?”

And MTG’s response? Grab your coffee for this one:

“No, I haven’t changed. I was a victim — just like you were — of media lies and stuff you read on social media.”

Victim!
She said victim.

This is the same person who once amplified wild conspiracies, smeared political opponents as satanic child-traffickers, and rode paranoia like a campaign bus straight into Congress. And now? Suddenly she’s just another poor soul who got tricked by the big bad internet?

Seriously — what alternate timeline are we living in?

The “I Was Tricked” Defense

Let’s be clear: far-right influencers pushed QAnon not because they stumbled into it like an Amazon product review gone wrong — but because it served them. It made them famous. It got them attention, power, fundraising numbers, and cable chyrons.

But now QAnon is politically toxic.

Republicans are trying to rebrand from a movement fueled by conspiracy addicts to a movement that just quietly platforms them while pretending they’ve “grown.”

And MTG is leading the PR parade.

Suddenly she’s not a fire-breathing conspiracist — she’s a confused Facebook mom who just clicked the wrong thing and got lost in the algorithm.

Come on.

You don’t get to spend years calling critics traitors, mocking shooting survivors, and pushing one of the most dangerous modern conspiracy ecosystems — and then shrug and say, “Oops, social media tricked me too!”

That’s not accountability.
That’s a marketing strategy.

Why This Matters

This moment isn’t about one TV clip.

It’s a test balloon.

The MAGA-to-mainstream pipeline is running at full speed right now, and the people who built their careers on chaos and delusion are trying to step into the next phase: respectability.

But respectability requires something they don’t have yet: the truth.

If MTG wants redemption, she doesn’t get to skip the part where she acknowledges the harm done. She doesn’t get to jump from “Democrats eat babies” to “Hey I’m a victim too” without any bridge in between.

You don’t get to light a fire under democracy and then claim you’re the one who got burned.

Let’s Keep Receipts

We’re not memory-holing the last several years just because someone discovered the soft lighting on daytime TV.

If the new MAGA message is “forget the past, we were just confused,” then the answer needs to be loud enough for the cheap seats:

No. We remember.

And we’re going to keep remembering — out loud — because democracy depends on a public that isn’t gaslit into forgiveness without accountability.
