Never Again Means Now’: Trump’s Executive Orders Prove Otherwise
From immigration crackdowns to anti-trans laws, Trump’s 2025 policies repeat the history he claims to condemn.
I’ve read a lot of presidential proclamations, but few have left me as shaken, and frankly enraged, as President Trump’s 2025 Holocaust Remembrance Day statement. This may not be my usual kind of article so I apologize in advance for my righteous fury.
To hear this administration solemnly declare “Never Again Means Now” while actively targeting immigrants, trans people, DEI programs, and enforcing Christian nationalist ideology isn’t just hypocrisy. It’s a dangerous warning.
Because when leaders invoke the tragedies of the past while repeating their tactics in the present, we’re not honoring history. We’re watching it unfold again.

Trump’s Words, Laid Bare
To understand what struck me about this statement, it is best to begin with the administration’s own words.
“We honor the blessed memories of the six million Jewish men, women, and children who were viciously slaughtered by the genocidal Nazi regime and their collaborators—one of the bleakest hours in human history. We also remember the Roma and Sinti, people of Slavic and Polish ancestry, persons with disabilities, Soviet prisoners of war, Jehovah's Witnesses, persons targeted based on their sexual orientation, and countless other innocent victims of this tragedy.”
— President Donald J. Trump, Holocaust Remembrance Day Proclamation, 2025

Powerful words. I certainly support the sentiment. But words mean nothing when they come from a president whose executive orders systematically target the very communities he claims to honor.
Trump’s War on Immigrants By Executive Order
“We remember countless innocent victims of this tragedy.”
That’s what President Trump said on Holocaust Remembrance Day.
And yet, immediately upon returning to office, his executive orders began targeting today’s “innocent victims”—undocumented immigrants, asylum seekers, and refugees.
Victims not of war, but of his policies.
Beginning on Inauguration Day, Trump unleashed a barrage of policies criminalizing immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. From mass detention to CECOT imprisonment without due process, to halting refugee admissions, this is a blueprint for modern persecution.
The chart below outlines the most egregious immigration actions from early 2025:
These aren’t just policies; they’re echoes of the authoritarianism we swore to never tolerate again. And just like the regime he criticizes in the statement, Trump’s administration is sending people to hidden detainment facilities and dangerous prisons with known human rights abuses on foreign soil.
“We also remember the Roma and Sinti, people of Slavic and Polish ancestry…”
Some the greatest hypocrisy comes from this line. While the official statement recognizes some of the nationalities and races targetted by the Nazis, this administration conveniently forgets the ones they have chosen to vilify.
We’ve been covering the immigration policies for months now. For a deep dive, consider our Detention Nation series. The first article in the series is linked below.
Dismantling DEI and Erasing Trans Lives
Trump’s crusade didn’t stop at the border or limit itself to immigration.
“We remember...persons targeted based on their sexual orientation..”
Those words didn’t stop Trump from signing orders that erased protections for LGBTQ+ Americans and launched an assault on transgender lives.
His administration moved swiftly to gut DEI programs and launch attacks on transgender rights—banning gender-affirming care, silencing educators, and criminalizing identity itself, many once again, on his very first day back in office.
Here are the key executive actions targeting diversity and trans existence:
Remembering victims of persecution means nothing if you're actively creating more of them. When a government decides which identities are acceptable, it’s not governance; it’s oppression.
These policies have been outlined in some of our previous reporting. Here is one article from our archive that may be of interest.

Embedding Christian Nationalism into Federal Policy
“We honor the blessed memories of the six million Jewish men, women, and children who were viciously slaughtered by the genocidal Nazi regime and their collaborators...Jehovah's Witnesses…and countless other innocent victims of this tragedy.”
While invoking the horrors of past authoritarianism, Trump’s executive actions are embedding religious intolerance into federal policy, mandating loyalty to a singular ideology and punishing dissent.
Not content with targeting marginalized groups, Trump is reshaping America into a theocratic state mandating loyalty to Christian nationalist ideology, encouraging surveillance, and blurring the line between church and state.
These policies institutionalize religious favoritism and authoritarian control:
History shows us where this path leads. The Nazis targeted multiple religious groups including Jews, Jehovah Witnesses, Baha’i Faith, and other minority beliefs, and while the Trump administration condemns those actions in word, their deeds tell a different story entirely.
See one of our earlier reports on the weaponization of religion here:

“Never Again Means Now” And That’s Exactly Why We Must Fight
Trump said it himself: “Never Again Means Now.” And he’s right, but not in the way he thinks.
Trump spoke of “innocent victims”, “persecution”, and declared “Never Again Means Now.” But his signature on executive orders tells a different story, one where history isn’t remembered. It’s repeated.
Because now is when authoritarian tactics are normalized.
Now is when human rights are stripped away under executive orders.
Now is when silence becomes complicity.
“Never Again Means Now...”
...unless you're an undocumented immigrant sent to CECOT.
...unless you're trans, queer, or part of a DEI program erased by law.
...unless you're a federal worker hunted for failing a Christian nationalist purity test.
...unless you refuse to conform to Trump's vision of who belongs in America.
“Never Again” isn’t a slogan; it’s a call to recognize when history starts to repeat itself. And that moment isn’t coming. It’s already here. Sir, your hypocrisy is showing.
Stay vigilant. Stay loud. And never let them tell you this is normal.

None of these Stephen Miller concocted executive orders will be enough for Trump. He wants a totalitarian regime. We will not tolerate this. Only ousting the entire Trump regime will be the start to restore democracy.
I think the ongoing genocide of the Palestinians, might have been at the very top of that list!!!
