NYT Reports Campus Power Fight Erupts After Charlie Kirk’s Death
Charlie Kirk’s assassination didn’t slow Turning Point USA. It appears to have accelerated it, even as new groups try to compete for student influence.
According to multiple reports, the conservative campus organization saw a surge in growth after Kirk was killed at a Utah college event in September 2025. TPUSA received over 130,000 inquiries about new chapters within weeks, while its school presence expanded nationwide.

At the same time, newer political players, including a fledgling Democratic effort and far-right activist Nick Fuentes, are now targeting the same campuses, according to The New York Times.
That creates a split fight for young voters, especially in spaces where TPUSA had already built infrastructure.
TPUSA has also expanded beyond campuses, with its faith-based network doubling to roughly 8,000 churches, Fox News reported.
The result is a rapidly shifting youth political landscape where Kirk’s absence hasn’t reduced influence, but may have intensified competition for it.
