Ohio Mayor Wesley Dingus Faces Voyeurism Charges Over Alleged Teen Underwear Sniffing
An Ohio mayor is facing criminal charges after investigators say he was captured on security footage entering a teenage girl’s bedroom and sniffing her underwear.
Wesley R. Dingus, mayor of Butler, Ohio, has been charged with two misdemeanor counts of voyeurism, according to Richland Source and WKYC.
Authorities allege the incidents occurred on two separate mornings in January 2026. Court records cited by WKYC state that security camera footage showed Dingus entering the room of an underage girl in his care, picking up worn underwear, and smelling it. The footage was reportedly provided to Richland County Children Services, which notified the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.

The New York Post reported that Dingus was issued summonses on Feb. 13 and is scheduled for arraignment in Mansfield Municipal Court. He has not publicly commented on the allegations.
Richland Source reported that Dingus is also out on bond in an unrelated 2025 felony case involving aggravated vehicular assault.
According to court documents cited by WKYC, the charges stem from two separate alleged incidents recorded on video.
The case raises questions about oversight and accountability in small municipal governments, particularly when elected officials face pending criminal matters while remaining in office.
Dingus is expected to appear in court in the coming weeks as the legal process moves forward.
For Butler residents, the case is now unfolding in real time.
