Pentagon Moves for $50B Congress Request as Iran War Burns Through U.S. Missiles
The Pentagon is preparing to ask Congress for roughly $50 billion in additional funding as U.S. military operations against Iran strain weapons stockpiles and escalate political tensions in Washington.
The request comes as the Trump administration faces growing scrutiny over the expanding campaign against Iran and the lack of a clear timeline for the conflict.
According to Reuters, Pentagon officials are working on a supplemental budget proposal to replenish weapons used in recent military operations, including missiles and ammunition deployed during strikes on Iranian targets.
The funding push follows a rapid escalation in fighting after U.S. and Israeli forces launched large-scale attacks on Iran, hitting more than 1,000 targets and triggering retaliatory strikes across the region.

At the same time, lawmakers in both parties have raised questions about the legal basis and long-term strategy behind the campaign.
Reuters reported that administration officials told congressional staff there was no intelligence indicating Iran planned an imminent attack on U.S. forces before the strikes began, a claim critics say undercuts the war’s justification.
If the Pentagon formally submits the funding request, Congress could soon face a high-stakes vote over billions in additional war spending.
The outcome may determine how long the U.S. campaign against Iran continues.
