Pentagon Ramps Up Iran War Planning After CENTCOM Seeks 100-Day Intelligence Surge
U.S. military planners may be bracing for a much longer Iran war than the White House initially suggested, and the manpower question is now surfacing inside the Pentagon.
Multiple outlets citing POLITICO report that CENTCOM has asked for more military intelligence officers to bolster operations for at least 100 more days, with internal planning that could run through September.
That matters because it suggests the campaign isn’t being staffed like a short, contained strike window. The Washington Post reported roughly 50,000 U.S. service members are already involved, and that additional personnel are moving into the region even as officials decline to name a new total.

On the money side, National Priorities estimates the major equipment portion of the operation at about $59 million per day, while other projections cited in recent coverage point to far higher totals over months.
What remains unclear is how large the intelligence surge will be, and whether the mission expands into new ground roles.
