Rep. Lauren Boebert Spent Campaign Cash to See Kid Rock, FEC Records Show
Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert appears to have spent thousands in campaign funds to attend a concert by Kid Rock, according to Federal Election Commission filings reviewed by The Washington Times. The filings show $925 spent on event tickets and another $2,455 on a hotel near the concert venue.
The concert occurred in May at the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, the same weekend the singer headlined a “Rock N Rodeo” event tied to a major professional bull-riding championship.
Under federal campaign-finance law, contributions are meant to fund election-related expenses. Using them for personal entertainment such as concert attendance typically runs afoul of those rules.
This is not the first time Boebert’s campaign finances have drawn scrutiny. In 2021 she paid rent and utility bills for her restaurant using campaign funds, initially described as “personal expenses … billed to the campaign account in error,” then amended. At the time, the FEC warned of possible legal action — though it ultimately dropped a formal enforcement case.
Critics argue that the concert trip appears plainly personal. But as of now, the filings do not show a legitimate campaign purpose, such as fundraising, constituent outreach or official duties. There is no public indication that the FEC has opened a new inquiry into this latest spending.
What happens next: Ethics watchdogs and political opponents are likely to push for clarity on whether the trip was campaign related. If enough pressure mounts — or if the FEC chooses to act — Boebert could face fresh scrutiny over her use of donor contributions.
