Russia Accused of Feeding Iran U.S. Warship and Aircraft Locations in New Report
Russia is reportedly giving Iran intelligence on U.S. military positions, a development that could deepen fears that the war is widening beyond Washington and Tehran. CBS News said Friday that three sources, including a senior U.S. official with direct knowledge, confirmed the intelligence-sharing claim.
The immediate tension is not just that Moscow may be helping Iran, but that the reported help involves U.S. assets in an active war zone. The Washington Post reported the intelligence included the locations of American warships and aircraft in the Middle East, and Reuters separately matched that account.
Those reports landed the same day Reuters said President Donald Trump demanded Iran’s “unconditional surrender,” signaling no quick de-escalation from Washington. That timing gives the Russia allegation wider significance because it suggests another major power may now be affecting battlefield decisions.
But the public record is still incomplete. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Russia is in “dialogue” with representatives of Iran’s leadership, yet public Kremlin remarks cited by multiple outlets stopped short of acknowledging any intelligence support.

“We are in dialogue with representatives of the Iranian leadership,” Peskov said, according to TASS.
That gap matters because it leaves open the biggest unanswered question: whether Moscow is offering political coordination, raw intelligence, or direct targeting assistance that could influence attacks on U.S. forces. The Wall Street Journal and Post reports point toward a more serious level of involvement, but officials have not publicly released evidence.
There is also a legal and political fight around the broader war itself. Some legal advocates have challenged the operation’s constitutionality, while Reuters reported the House rejected a war powers resolution that would have required congressional authorization.
For now, the next test is whether the White House, Pentagon or Kremlin moves beyond anonymous sourcing and public denials.
