Senate Democrats Demand DOJ & FBI Records on ‘Seditious Six’ After Military Orders Clash
Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats confirmed they’ve asked the Trump administration to turn over all records related to what critics are calling the “Seditious Six” matter, a dispute now roiling Capitol Hill. According to Politico, the request seeks internal DOJ, FBI, White House and Defense Department records tied to six lawmakers whose recent statements on military orders sparked a federal response.
The move dramatically escalates tensions between Democratic lawmakers and federal agencies, raising questions about political pressure within the Justice Department and FBI. Democrats argue that the Blaze video in which six veterans in Congress reminded U.S. military personnel they can refuse illegal orders was lawful commentary, not wrongdoing.
The lawmakers later told reporters the FBI requested interviews with them about the matter, though officials have declined to detail the basis for contacting them.
In a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, Senate Democrats wrote that using law enforcement as a tool to intimidate political opponents threatens constitutional freedoms.
“We write with grave concern that the administration is weaponizing the FBI against federal lawmakers who merely restated current law,” the letter reads.

Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, and Representatives Jason Crow, Chrissy Houlahan, Chris Deluzio and Maggie Goodlander are among those at the center of the inquiry.
This development follows President Trump’s social media condemnation of the lawmakers as engaging in “seditious behavior” and demands for their prosecution.
Democrats say they simply reiterated existing military law and that any prosecution of protected speech would be unconstitutional.
Next steps include whether the Justice Department will comply with the records request and if further congressional oversight hearings will be scheduled.
