South Carolina Pastor Accused of Forcing Kids to Eat From Dumpsters
A South Carolina pastor and his wife have been arrested on dozens of charges tied to alleged child abuse and animal cruelty, and a judge has now granted bond for the wife as the case moves forward in Pickens County.
Myron Chorbaijan, 74, faces more than two dozen charges, including criminal sexual conduct and assault, according to WYFF News 4. Kathleen Chorbaijan, 71, was also charged but was granted bond during a recent court appearance.
Arrest warrants allege Myron Chorbaijan sexually abused adopted daughters and violently assaulted adopted sons over a period of years. Investigators say he forced children to search dumpsters for food and eat discarded or rotten items as punishment.

Court documents also allege he beat children with a belt, forced one to sleep in a trash can for days, and committed acts of animal cruelty in front of the children, including running over and shooting a kitten.
Authorities allege Kathleen Chorbaijan failed to intervene despite knowledge of the abuse.

“These charges stem from evidence gathered during our investigation,” a law enforcement official told WYFF News 4.
The case has drawn attention in Pickens County because the couple adopted multiple children over several decades. The allegations outlined in the warrants remain accusations, and no conviction has been secured.
Myron Chorbaijan remains in custody as prosecutors prepare for further court proceedings.
The next hearings will determine how the case proceeds through the South Carolina court system.
