Susie Wiles Says Trump Will “Campaign Like 2024 Again” for 2026 Midterms
White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles said Monday that President Donald Trump will take center stage in the 2026 midterm elections, a shift she said could reshape how Republicans approach the campaign. In an interview on the podcast The Mom VIEW, Wiles said the administration plans to “put him on the ballot”, meaning heavy-duty campaigning by Trump himself to help elect congressional Republicans.
Wiles painted the plan as a direct departure from traditional midterm strategies that treat such elections as local contests and avoid overt involvement from sitting presidents. “I haven’t quite broken it to him yet, but he’s going to campaign like it’s 2024 again,” she said.
She argued the approach was necessary because many low-propensity voters, those less likely to vote in midterms, are strong Trump supporters. In her view, his presence on the campaign trail could be a “difference-maker,” energizing turnout and giving Republican-endorsed candidates a better shot.

Wiles also acknowledged that this strategy marks a major pivot. Rather than allowing midterm races to ride on local issues and candidates alone, the White House aims to make national leadership, namely Trump, the focal point. “We’re actually going to turn that on its head,” she said.
As of now, it is unclear whether Trump has formally signed off on the plan, and no concrete campaign timeline has emerged. Observers will be watching closely to see whether this aggressive strategy can help the GOP preserve its slim congressional majorities — or whether it backfires by turning midterms into a quasi-presidential referendum.
