When you see a swastika on an American flag inside a congressional office, you’d think it would be the story of the year. Instead, it’s just another day in Trump’s America—where fascism has stopped hiding.
This week, a Republican congressman’s staffer was caught on Zoom with a flag that looked unmistakably Nazi-inspired: an American flag with a swastika woven into its stripes.
And when reporters asked Speaker Mike Johnson about it, he didn’t condemn the symbolism outright. He deflected. He said there’s an “investigation.” He insisted it doesn’t represent “Republican values.”
But that’s the problem—it does represent the modern Republican Party.
Fascism in Plain Sight
This isn’t an isolated moment. From Trump’s open praise of dictators to Project 2025’s blueprint for dismantling democracy, fascism isn’t creeping in—it’s standing at the podium, smiling for the cameras.
Johnson even tripped over his own talking points. In the same breath he used to claim Republicans “stand for freedom,” he accidentally said, “We defended that evil ideology.”
He caught himself—but the truth slipped out. Because Trump’s movement doesn’t fight fascism; it feeds on it.
The GOP that once fought Nazis now cheers them on under a different name—“America First.”
The Real American Flag
The swastika flag seen in that office wasn’t just an accident. It was a symbol of where the MAGA movement has taken us, a country where Nazis can hang their banners next to Old Glory and the Speaker of the House still pretends it’s not a big deal.
