Tennessee Lawmaker Evades Answer When Asked if Renee Good Was a “Domestic Terrorist”
Tennessee Rep. Susan Lynn (R-Mount Juliet) was put on the spot by The Tennessee Holler about the killing of Renee Good, a Minneapolis woman fatally shot by an ICE agent and her response is now going viral.
On the Tennessee House floor, Lynn honored Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), drawing applause. Shortly after, Lynn was asked: “Do you think Renee Good deserved that, Susan? Was she a domestic terrorist?” Lynn paused and said she “doesn’t know” whether Good was a domestic terrorist, though she suggested she knows the truth deep down.
Good, 37, was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis on January 7 during a federal immigration operation. The Trump administration and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem publicly described Good’s actions as “domestic terrorism,” claiming she weaponized her vehicle against agents. Local video footage and a range of media reporting, including The Minnesota Star Tribune and police accounts show Good’s vehicle turning away from agents as shots were fired, prompting sharp disputes over the government’s framing.

Legal experts note that there is no statutory process to designate an individual as a domestic terrorist, and many have questioned the use of the term in Good’s case.
The exchange highlights the deep polarization around the Minneapolis killing and federal immigration enforcement tactics. Critics argue that labeling Good a domestic terrorist without clear evidence risks inflaming tensions and distorting legal definitions, while supporters of ICE have defended agents’ actions as justified self-defense.
“We had whistles. They had guns,” Good’s widow, Becca Good, said in a statement urging peace even as protests spread nationwide.
As national debate continues, state legislators like Lynn are being pressed to clarify where they stand on ICE and the broader use of force by federal authorities.
