The Vindictive Doctrine
Inside Trump's 72-Hour Shift from Grievance to Government Retaliation
Eight months into his return to the presidency, Donald Trump has made clear that his second term is not about forgiveness, unity, or even justice. It is about retribution — fast, personal, and unapologetic.
Over the course of a single weekend, a pattern of escalation emerged that can no longer be brushed off as rhetorical excess or vague campaign promises. It’s now a lived reality. In just 72 hours, we saw:
The forced resignation of a federal prosecutor who refused to charge Trump’s political enemies,
A Truth Social post demanding prosecutions based on Trump’s own legal grievances, and
A chilling public admission at a memorial that he “hates” his opponents and wishes them ill.
This wasn't subtle. It was a blueprint for authoritarianism, outlined in real time.

The First Domino: Siebert Steps Down
Friday, September 20, 2025
It began with the resignation — or, more likely, the ousting — of Erik Siebert, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Siebert, by all accounts, had been under mounting pressure from within the Trump administration to bring charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James, former FBI Director James Comey, and others.
However, Siebert reportedly refused. It is not because he sympathized with them politically, but because he insisted on a basic principle: there wasn’t enough evidence to prosecute.
This refusal to bend to political will cost him his job.
The administration wasted no time in replacing him with Lindsey Halligan, a former personal attorney to Trump, whose chief qualification appears to be loyalty, rather than prosecutorial experience. Her appointment sent a clear signal: DOJ independence is a thing of the past. You charge who we say, or you’re out.
In another era, this would’ve been a scandal worthy of Congressional hearings. Today, it was just a normal Friday in D.C.
The Social Media Ultimatum: “Justice Must Be Served, NOW!!!”
Saturday, September 21, 2025
Just hours after Siebert's departure became public, Trump unleashed a Truth Social tirade aimed directly at Attorney General Pam Bondi. The full context makes clear this wasn’t just bluster. It was a directive, a public pressure campaign from the top.
“They impeached me twice, and indicted me (5 times!), OVER NOTHING. JUSTICE MUST BE SERVED, NOW!!!”
“Pam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, ‘same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff, Leticia??? They’re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done.”
“We can’t delay any longer. It’s killing our reputation and credibility…”
There it is: the explicit link between Trump’s personal grievances and his desire for government retribution. The reason for prosecution, in his own words, is that he was impeached and indicted. Someone — anyone — needs to suffer for that.
Note the complete lack of any mention of the law or public interest. For Trump, it is just vengeance.
The Memorial Moment: “I Hate My Opponents”
Sunday, September 22, 2025
The very next day, Trump took the stage at Charlie Kirk’s memorial service. Erika Kirk had just delivered a heart-wrenching speech, forgiving her husband’s alleged killer and calling for grace in the face of tragedy.
Trump followed, and instead of echoing that spirit of forgiveness, he rebuked it.
“Charlie didn’t hate his enemies. I disagreed with him on that. I hate my opponents, and I don’t want the best for them. I’m sorry, Erika.”
He said it with the weight of the presidency behind him, in front of thousands of grieving conservatives, in a moment designed for unity. What should have been a call for healing became a platform for hate.
This wasn’t a political rally. It was a memorial. And still, Trump couldn’t resist making it about his enemies and what they deserve.
A Doctrine in 72 Hours
These three events — the ousting of Siebert, the social media demand for revenge, and the declaration of hate — happened within 72 hours of each other. The speed is as alarming as the substance.
Together, they form a doctrine:
If you don’t prosecute who I say, you’re gone.
If I’ve been indicted, then my enemies must be, too.
And make no mistake — I hate them. I want them to suffer.
This is no longer about bending institutions. It’s about remaking them into weapons.
The Ultimate Irony: Weaponization of the “Weaponization” Narrative
This entire presidency has been built around the claim that the Biden administration weaponized the DOJ. Trump’s allies even formed a House “Weaponization of Government” Subcommittee to investigate what they said was politicized justice.
And now?
Trump is firing prosecutors for not indicting his enemies. He’s appointing loyalists. He’s publicly naming targets. And he’s doing it because he feels wronged, not because they broke the law.
Biden never tweeted, “They charged my son, now charge theirs.” Trump just did the equivalent — in all caps.
There’s no clearer case of projection, no sharper irony.
The Warning, in Plain Sight
Trump has always flirted with authoritarian tendencies. However, this weekend removed all doubt. The message isn’t just about politics anymore. It’s about punishment.
If you cross him, you should be afraid. If you stand in his way, your time is coming. And if you're part of an institution that refuses to obey, you’ll be replaced.
It’s not a dog whistle. It’s a declaration. Trump has always been bombastic, litigious, and heavy on grievance politics. Now he has clearly entered his wrath era.
Trump told us what he intends to do, and now, he’s doing it.

He NEVER ran to "Make America Great Again," now or ever. He ran to exact revenge upon his enemies, real and imaginary.
And yet there are still people who either don't recognize this or don't want to admit that they made a mistake when they voted for him.
