As far as I know, it must start with the youth. Adults are rarely "re-educated" without brainwashing. So it is no surprise that they have destroyed public education, made it more difficult to attain higher education unless you are wealthy, and tried to control all information. Not to seem too doom-y, but for many of us, the best we can do is raise our children and grandchildren well and hope others are as well.
It is very "Me Generation", Reagan-era, megacapitalism. Shiny objects, cheap toys, keeping up appearances. It will take a societal shift to bring about real change. Some are opting out of the "grind" and choosing simpler, more experience-based lives over consumption. However, with wages stagnant, housing prices through the (pardon the pun) roof, and grocery prices climbing, not many can survive outside of the capitalistic norm to do meaningful things, learn skills they can be passionate about, and live lives that feel fulfilling.
The US Government is cruel. Education is very successful.
